It’s been a while… Last week, I tried my hand at rice planting with the neighbours. 🌾Some of the rice planter machines were getting old, requiring us to manually transplant the seedlings into any gaps the machine missed. The mud between my toes was delightful and warm. A rainy, but tasty start to May here in the countryside. ☔️🍪 We’ve had some rainy days here in the countryside, so every sunny day is everyone’s opportunity to get out and do some gardening. We had the farmers gather for the annual gutter cleaning— an event when all the farmers with rice fields get together to clear the waterways for the springtime field flooding. I tried to help, only to be shooed away— this was a farmer matter after all. So I, along with Pancake, did some flower gardening around the house instead. The neighbours provided Pan much desired entertainment. 🐕 👀 The last shots of the cherry blossoms in this rural corner of Japan. 🌸🥲 Birthday pancakes for the Pancake. 🐕🥞🎂
